My specialist area of international tax law began as a job, but it has since become far more than that. In this field, not only are knowledge and skill vital, but so are diplomacy and pragmatism. An open-minded view and a social attitude to life are crucial, and sometimes really open up new horizons.
We are a small firm and aim to be accessible and hands-on for our clients and for those with whom we work on a day-to-day basis. A good relationship based on mutual trust is our cornerstone and corresponds perfectly to our desire always to cooperate on a long-term basis.
Moreover, thanks to our professional past and our size, we are able to deliver high-quality work in return for very competitive fees.
Of course, we cannot advise on international law on our own. So we have an extensive, carefully cultivated, international network of highly skilled foreign (tax) advisers to call on. Within this network, we always maintain our independence: after all, we are acting only in your interest. Your own adviser (accountant, banker, auditor or notary) is naturally a companion with whom we seek out the most suitable solution for you.
"Focus on international tax law, an expertise we have developed over the past years"
My specialist area of international tax law began as a job, but it has since become far more than that. In this field, not only are knowledge and skill vital, but so are diplomacy and pragmatism. An open-minded view and a social attitude to life are crucial, and sometimes really open up new horizons.Right from the outset, I had a special affinity with the tax system applicable to Dutch nationals living in Belgium, whether the issue concerns their pension, their DGA status (Dutch director-major shareholder) or the planning or structuring of their assets. However, the tax system applicable to cross-border workers in Luxembourg or France, providing tax guidance for emigrating or immigrating taxpayers and tax consultancy services for investors or entrepreneurs regarding the worldwide implementation of their plans also fall well within my areas of competence.
Over the years, I have built up special experience in providing advice on asset structures (Cayman tax, data exchange), migration and emigration of private individuals and companies,cross-border investments and assistance for artists and athletes in an international context.
I am happy to share this expertise through articles in specialist journals and as a speaker at various conferences.
Finally, as an active member of AIJA, I maintain a network in various countries to assist our clients.
I focus in particular on internationally mobile employees, business leaders and directors. I delve into tax issues relating to international employment such as salary splits, secondments and the tax-favourable Belgian ‘expat status'. I also have a wide experience of tax on remuneration, focusing mainly on share (option) plans, remuneration packages, costs specific to the employer, cafeteria plans, bonus plans, group insurance and pension plans. In addition, I have extensive knowledge of exemption from the payment of the advance tax payment for shift work, overtime and research & development. I give advice and regularly assist taxpayers during tax inspections and procedures or with requests for rulings.
Moreover, I have a great deal of experience in the field of regularisation dossiers and advising on data exchange.
I regularly speak at seminars, where I am happy to share my knowledge and try to translate theory into practice.
